CYBERJAYA: The Cyberjaya Sports Arena became a mini-battlefield as Malaysian paintballers dived and crawled to vie for first place the Cyberjaya Paintball Championship League over the weekend.

The league features the unique WERD gameplay format for both Open (v5.2) and Novice (v3.2) divisions. Unlike other international painthai formats, WERD is a format created by Werdna Hol Sportz with a 5+2 or 3+2 player system.

The event saw nine Open division and five Novice division teams converging on the Cyberjaya Sports Arena with full paintball kits and supporters in tow.
The 300-strong crowd were enthralled by fast and furious paintball skills as teams competed throughout the day.

In the Open division, Team Warrior won an impressive 10 consecutive rounds in the preliminaries and then beat veteran paintballers Team Nemesis to win RM3,000, making them a team to look out for in the season and in the local scene.

Reigning Novice division champions Team Ying Yang battled valiantly with Team Semarak Api A to retain their title and take home RM1,500, but Team Semarak Api A had a chance to exact their revenge at the one-on-one bonus round where they turned the tables on Team Ying Yang in a heart-thumping match.
As an added bonus, all quarter-finalists got to take home a cut of the winners’ pool. In its second season, the league kicked-off in March and will see five leagues in total, culminating in the finale in December.

The partnership with Cyberjaya-TV.com makes the Cyberjaya Paintball Championship League the first ever paintball tournament in Asia to have a dedicated video
