Young golf enthusiasts show promising talents

However only the first 50 aspiring young golfers who registered had the chance to learn about the game under the guidance of professional golfers and coaches from the Airil Rizman Golf Academy.
The golf clinic was part of the Cyberjaya Sports Kids event which also included other events like netball and futsal for children from charity homes. The one-day event was initiated by Cyberview Sdn Bhd (CSB), in partnership with the Sepang Municipal Council, Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd, Prima Properties Management Sdn Bhd and Laketown Sdn Bhd who provided the prizes, lunch and goodies for the children from the homes.

The half-day golf clinic which was supposed to break at 1pm for lunch was extended further by an hour when some of the juniors simply did not want to leave the driving range.
A golf competition after the clinic created so much excitement that the juniors fancied themselves to be the next professional PGA superstars. “Some of them have the potential to be talented golfers.
“The participants were put through the basics of golf from theory to practice and they have the natural talent to excel further in this sport,” said Andrew Hassan, one of the ” three professional golfers involved in the golf clinic.
The others are Mohd Din Mohd Nor and junior golf coach Ahmad Fadali. Hassan said the clinic was a fantastic opportunity for young golf enthusiasts to learn more about the sport, the turnout and interest shown by the parents was overwhelming.
“It was our first such clinic here for students of Putrajaya-Cyberjaya area. The response was good but unfortunately places were limited and therefore we had to turn away some,” said Ku-Sairy Kudin of K Golf Event and Management.
During the clinic, the coaches explained the basics of golf including fundamentals such as alignment, posture and balance. They were watched by parents who also took the opportunity to equip themselves with some pointers should they decide to take up playing golf with their aspiring children.
Hassan, Mohd Din and Ahmad also- demonstrated the finer points on how to grip a club the right way for power and accuracy when striking the ball. “The aim is allow the children to have fun and the coaches helped to evaluate a person’s swing which allows them to decide on the ideal golf clubs, if they decide to take up the sport eventually,” added Ku-Sairy.
CSB managing director Hafidz Hashim said the event was one of the many community and leisure activities which Cyberview organises or supports as part of its active engagement and development of Cyberjaya’s community.
