Mr Energizer’s fans join fitness challenge

KUALA LUMPUR: The official mascot for the Energizer Night Race 2010, Mr Energizer, had a field day with 45 loyal fans from Facebook, who sweated it out at Celebrity Fitness in a bid to be the fittest of all.

The workout session, dubbed “Mr Energizer Shape-Up Sunday Challenge”called for entries on the mascot’s fan page in Facebook and within a few hours, a contingent of loyal. fans responded for a chance to be up close and personal with the mascot.

To earn a place in the challenge, fans were required to post a message on Facebook saying: “I want to shape it up with Mr Energizer.” The 45 fans battled it out at the gym’s outlet-in Mid Valley Megamall on eight activities, among them 1km ride on bike, 10 bench press reps, 10 squats, 10 sit-ups, and 1km run on treadmill, for the chance to win prizes that included free entries to the night race.

“We are delighted that our mascot, Mr Energizer, has attracted so many people on Facebook and that these fans are looking for an opportunity to meet the mascot and have a workout challenge with him,” said Energizer Malaysia brand manager Joshua Leong.

The mascot is set to delight his fans not only at the workout session but also on the marathon circuit on March 27 at Cyberjaya. Gatorade; the official sports drink sponsor for the night race, says the pre-event was a creative, fun way to boost excitement leading up to the event. Five thousand people are expected to take part in the inaugural Energizer Night Marathon 2010, covering 42km, 21km,10km and 5km fun run.
